Fountaingrove history and landmarks
Fountaingrove is a neighborhood in north Santa Rosa with a history that goes back to 1875, when Thomas Lake Harris founded the Fountain Grove colony there. Kanaye Nagasawa managed about 2,000 acres of vineyards for the community, and a winery was founded in 1882 that operated until the early 1940s. Its round barn was a local landmark until the Tubbs Fire destroyed it in 2017. Today it is described as one of the more affluent parts of Santa Rosa.

Fountaingrove after the Tubbs Fire
The Tubbs Fire destroyed the Fountaingrove Inn, the Round Barn and a large Hilton hotel, and nearly wiped out the Fountaingrove II subdivision of about 600 homes. Reporting a year later noted that rebuilding was slower here than in Coffey Park, partly because many homes sat on large, uneven lots that were tricky to clear and more costly to rebuild.
